Just How Valuable is a Porch?
Last month we did an article about increasing the curb appeal of your home. We talked about how repainting or cleaning your front door and hardware can improve the overall appearance of your home.
But did you know that adding a front porch could increase the value of your home and your curb appeal? Front porches can be a great space for entertaining, drinking your morning coffee, or relaxing on a quiet evening. Not only will a porch increase your curb appeal it will increase your living space, and make your home look more spacious. A covered patio is also a great way to keep some direct sun off the front of your house, which can protect your door and help keep your home cooler.
There are a variety of porch styles as well. The three most popular ones are front, back, and wraparound. They can range from a slab on concrete to full living quarters with electricity and fireplaces.
Studies show that adding a porch can provide an average return on investment of 84% depending on the region, and size and style of the porch. Check out some past projects we have competed where we either revamped or added a porch or deck to our clients’ home.
